Excursions

Every Trip Is Different

We have cooked entire meals from what we foraged on a day hike. We have consulted for adventure racing teams who needed to know what they could eat on a multi-day course without slowing down. We once spent the better part of a morning on a ten-foot stretch of trail because there was genuinely that much going on underfoot — fungi, root systems, soil layers, insect ecology — and nobody wanted to move on.

We do not really do a set itinerary. Some people want a hard day on the trail. Some want to stand in one spot and learn everything that is happening there. Some want to bring their family out and just see what their kids notice. We have done all of it, and the best trips are usually the ones we built around a conversation that started with "is there any way you could..."

Yes. Probably. Tell us what you are after.

The Kinds of Things We Do

Seasonal Foraging Walks
Half-day or full-day, timed to whatever the Ozarks are producing right now. Morels in April. Chanterelles in July. Pawpaws in September. We teach the season as much as the species.

Micro-Hikes
We pick a small stretch of trail and do not leave it. Plant ID, soil ecology, fungal networks, insect relationships — everything happening in a space most people would walk past in thirty seconds. This one changes how people see the outdoors. Every time.

Wild Food Deep Dives
A full day on one subject. Mycology. Edible trees. Aquatic ecology. Soil science and wild food nutrition. For people who want to go deep on something specific.

Trail Provisioning Days
Everything you eat comes from the landscape you are walking through. Identification, harvest, field processing, fire, cooking. This is the one people talk about afterward.

Adventure Race & Endurance Consulting
Wild food strategy for multi-day races and backcountry endurance events. What is edible on your course, how to spot it while moving, how to work it into your nutrition plan.

Family Field Days
Paced for families with kids. Hands-on, age-appropriate, and the kind of day that ends with everyone muddy and nobody asking for a screen.

Private Group Expeditions
Reunions, retreats, birthdays, corporate outings, a long weekend with old friends. You tell us the occasion, we build the experience around it.

Full-Stay Coordination

If you are coming from out of the region or bringing a group, we can put together more than just the field day.

Lodging — We know the local cabins, hosts, and accommodations and can match something to your group size and budget.

Event Planning — Multi-day itineraries, group logistics, coordinated schedules. We have done this for groups large enough to be complicated.

Food & Catering — Wild food meals built around what we harvest that day, locally sourced catering, or both. We can design a full dining experience around wild Ozark ingredients if that is what you are after.

Getting There — If your group needs help with transportation to the trailhead, we can coordinate that.

Reach out with the size of your group and how many days you are thinking. We will put something together.

The Ozarks

The Ozark Plateau is one of the most biodiverse regions in the interior United States — ancient soils, karst topography, spring-fed creeks, and a patchwork of hardwood forest, glade, and bottomland that has fed people for thousands of years.

Eremos Collective is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting wild and homegrown approaches to health, food, and land stewardship. Donations are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law.
